OVWG Meetings & Goals

The OVWG usually meets the third Saturday of every month from September to June, excluding December. Special meetings may be held in the summer.

Our members primarily come from southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky, and southwestern Ohio.

Our mission is to provide education, information, and organization to people in this area interested in the art and craft of woodturning.

Guild meetings are open to the public and anyone may attend a meeting. Some meetings have a fee payable at meeting start.

What do we do:
Share ideas regarding woodturning; including lathes, tools, turning materials, turning techniques and design of turned objects.

Show and Tell at meetings provides a venue to display your works to like-minded individuals and allows for critiques and sharing of ideas.

Exchange wood and other woodturning materials.

Inform members about activities of interest to woodturners.

Promote woodturning as an art form and craft.

Host professional woodturning demonstrators from around the world to instruct the membership on methods and techniques.

Provide woodturning mentors to members who are new to woodturning or want to learn a new technique to help them get started.

Hold two themed contests per year for members to have fun showcasing their skills and competing for prizes.

Perform demonstrations of woodturning at various community events.

Hold a major woodturning symposium every two years.
