The
contest for the January 2006 meeting is a turned object made from

by four", as used in home construction or remodeling,
(pine, fir or spruce). Such a piece of wood must be purchased
from any commercial lumber yard or from a Home Depot or Lowe's,
etc. There are no rules regarding shape, form or size. The entry
must be turned and the final shape should be recognized, by the
average person, as a turned piece. No additional types or varieties
of wood may be added for a decoration, structure or color to any
part of the turning. The natural knots, in the 2"X4"
piece of wood may, or may not, be used to enhance your entry -
your choice.
The outside may be natural, colored (so that grain shows), stained,
textured, burned, finished, etc. as you desire, but not be covered
with any filler material such as plaster, bondo, paint etc.to
cover wood grain. Wood grain must be visible. (Paint may be used
for decorations, for example, small flowers, a vine, animal etc.
but you may NOT paint the entire piece and obscure the grain.
Entries
which do not meet these requirements will be transferred to the
instant gallery table and ineligible for the contest. An entry
form must be filled out and submitted when entering the Grove
Restaurant.

by the guests.
