What is this?
This will be a combination of a demonstration and hands-on class. Ceramic tiles will be provided for a fee, set to actual costs.
The project is to make a platter that is about 11 inches in diameter. The central portion is raised and will be about 4.5" inches in diameter. There will be a circular 3" wide well around the outside of the center raised portion. The height of the platter will be about 1 & 1/2 inches.
Class members are encouraged to bring their own turning tools, although tools are available in the learning center. Attendees should also bring sanding and finishing supplies. To sand the inside of the circular well, a 2 inch mandrel and associated sanding discs work best. Attendees should also bring their own electric drill. Hand sanding is an option.
