What is this?
Wood Pottery - Description
Learn to design, shape, and hollow one of Matt’s signature wood turned vessels which emulate the detail & traditions of forms derived from a variety of pottery styles found throughout fine handmade craft; reflected through his study & time spent as in house trade turner and accessories producer at Shackleton Thomas Furniture
In this class you will learn the finer points in the art of creating beautiful, semi enclosed vessels with hand turned classic exterior detail. The discovery and joy of shaping wood on the wood lathe, and use of hand tools will lead into the creation of completing a finished vessel of your own.
– You will learn proper usage, modifications, and application of the tools, the importance of tool sharpening, body relaxation, finesse and tool control
– You will learn the implications of what makes a well-designed piece both visually, and as a tactile object.
