November will be two of our own talented turners. For those of us that have seen Lowell Converse and John Glessner demonstrate before, we know we’re in for a good demo. For those that have not seen either of them demonstrate, you won’t want to miss this! Lowell has been turning many, many, many years. He has put together a demo he calls “Simple Stuff”. Lowell, like so many of us, is a fan of Nick Cook who demos and turns useable and sellable items. Lowell will demonstrate his way of turning a variety of items that will show you the best way to get the most out of your turning tools.

John Glessner’s vase was featured in the October issue of the American Woodturner. He’s going to show us how he created this vase he has named “A Big Grin” using epoxy clay. He will cover the use of golden rectangles in the design and the inlay techniques for carving a recessed grove and making epoxy clay tiles that conform to a turned 3D shape.

In December we are bringing back our Holiday Luncheon. The members that remember this from the past have pushed to continue this fun event. For those that haven’t participated in this, this is just pure fun! This will be even better than in the past because this time the lunch is free for members and only a very small fee for a guest or spouse.  Spend a few hours eating and enjoying the company of your fellow turners. Space is limited so don’t delay in registering for this event. In addition to that, we will have a gift exchange that you can participate in. Just bring a wrapped turned item that you’re proud of. Also don’t forget about the December Contest. Turn any ornament that is suitable to hang on a tree. Needs to have some wood in it but can also use any other material.
