About this event
- Topic: Learn to make holiday ornaments with insert.
- Skill Level: Intermediate. The pace of this class will assume you have experience with spindle turning and can turn a bead confidently. Experience turning a finial is advised although you need not be expert in the latter.
- Project: Form a cross-drilled hardwood cube into a globe and turn a cap and finial to complete the ornament. Make a 1” snowman or tree to put inside the globe.
- Materials: Blanks, glue and finishing materials will be provided. Tools for this project include a spindle roughing gouge, 3/8” spindle gouge, detail gouge, parting tool, calipers, skew or small flex saw. Forstner bits will be provided.
- Pre-requisite: Introduction to Woodturning and the OVWG LC, experience with spheres, globes, finials or other delicate spindle work will be helpful.
