Empty Bowls

Purpose: Organizations and businesses sponsor Empty Bowls projects worldwide to raise awareness and money to combat hunger. All proceeds go to food pantries and other area organizations to support their efforts to provide food to local people in need.

How it Works: At a luncheon, the collection of beautiful bowls created, decorated and donated by artisans are displayed and auctioned off in a silent auction. The funds go to support the food pantry operations. Their bowls (or an appropriate substitute if artisan bowl is not food safe) are then filled with their choice of soups made by local cooks. Luncheon guests then keep their bowls to use or display at home and to serve as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in the world.

Throughout the year OVWG members turn bowls to be donated the an Empty Bowls fundraisers. If you have bowls that you can't sell or give away this may be a way to reduce your inventory.

Over the years OVWG members have donated to the Oxford Empty Bowls fundraiser but there are many other Empty Bowls fundraisers in the area throughout the year that we may want to get involved in.

If you have some bowls you would like to donate to this worthy cause please bring them to the Learning Center and OVWG Management will be sure that they are donated to one of the local events. If you want you can wait for one of our announcements of a specific event that we will be soliciting bowl donations for.

Looking for a change of pace and a worthy cause to use your skill and express your talent this is a great way to add significance to your hobby. Let your creativity shine! We encourage all members to make a few bowls every year to have ready to donate.  We look forward to seeing many beautiful and creative creations.

Check out the Kudos page. See how much these bowls are appreciated. Kudos
