Peyton Reed, Jr. Obituary

Peyton Davidson Reed, Jr., age 80, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday February 18, 2024 at Ohio Living Cape May. Peyton was born April 25, 1943 in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of the late Reverend Peyton D. and Mary Anne (Coughlin) Reed. He had served his Country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army Corps of Engineers and later was self-employed in the information technology field as a computer systems engineer. Peyton was involved in several organizations through the years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #49 of Wilmington, the Catholic War Veterans, the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild, as well as, being a member of the St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Wilmington. He was married November 26, 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to his loving wife, Mary Louise (Brown) Reed who survives. Also surviving are his children, Peter (Denise) Reed and Karen (James) Oehler; grandchildren, Jonah and Emma Reed; and sister, Margaret (Frank) Jones. In addition to his parents, Peyton is preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Voss.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Wilmington. Father Bernard Wedishofer will be the Celebrant. Burial will follow immediately at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, with military honors being accorded by the American Legion Post #49 of Wilmington.

Visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 21, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Memorial donations in Peyton's honor may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul c/o Saint Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry St., Wilmington, Ohio 45177 or to St. Meinrad Archabbey, 200 Hill Dr., St. Meinrad, Indiana 47577. Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington, is assisting the family.
