Get ready for the wood turning contest at the annual Member Appreciation Luncheon on December 2 and help support the community. This year, we’ll be making Wig Stands with the opportunity to enter a wig stand in the contest and/or donate it for people undergoing treatment for cancer. It’s a project suitable for all members from beginner to advanced. Stands can be unique in wood type, color, and design.
You can use materials from a 2x6 board to hardwoods, finished or painted, and explore techniques from basic spindle to multi-axis turning. Your special interest or woodworking style can be applied as well (woodburning, segmenting, embellishment/painting, multi-axis, basic functionality to elegant flair, etc.). And to support the program, you can also make a wig stand(s) and donate without entering the contest.
