Learn the most important part of wood turning. GOOD FORM. Being a good turner is not enough. Learn form from one of the best. Practice on common every day items to understand what makes good form.
Michael states "the students taking the class should bring a basic set of tools and any that they are having trouble using or sharpening. A roughing gouge, 3/8" and 1/2" spindle gouge, parting tool, 5/8" or 1/2" bowl gouge, a skew and a scraper, a set of calipers and ruler would come in handy. A small amount of sandpaper, 150, 220, 320 grits. The good thing about this class is using many different tools including the skew. The students can practice and not worry about messing up in the early stages."
. Expect to leave this class with a better concept of form and how to achieve a pleasing form.
Some of the wood required for this class is green so the wood committee will obtain the wood close to the time of the class. The approx material fee will be $20.
