This class focuses on the design and turning of finials for the top of hollow forms or for ornaments. This is an intermediate level class - you‘ll need to have good tool control for fine spindle turning.

This event is focused on presenting opportunities for new turners to learn and practice fundamental skills of woodturning. Each session uses one or more basic tools including the spindle roughing gouge, spindle gouge, parting tool, scraper, and bowl gouge. Over several sessions, turners are exposed to different ways to mount wood on a lathe, roughing to round, and turning consistent beads, coves, Vs, and curves. Over the course of these sessions, basic design elements are introduced and the basics of sanding and finishing are presented.
Tools and materials are supplied. There is no cost for this event but turners must register to attend. Registration is limited to eight (8) turners .

This is a special open shop to help the Kennedy Heights/Pleasent Ridge communities celebrate the holidays. There will be lots of activities in our building as well as the Art Center. While it will be a normal open shop expect visitors to stop by and check out what we do. This is a great opportunity to support our adopted community and share our wonderful craft!

Intermediate-Advanced Box Turning. Create a decorative box with OVWG‘s master of box making! Prerequisite: Intermediate turning skills. Intro to Woodturning or prior T&L series. You Should have turn several boxes, minumin 3-5 (or take the basic box class) This should not be your first Box. however PLEASE DO NOT ENROLL IF YOU HAVE TAKEN THIS CLASS BEFORE. Priority is being given to first-time students. If you would like to repeat the class, your name can be placed on a waitlist by contacting Mark Malmstrom. If the class does not fill with first-time students, repeat students will be given the opportunity to enroll in the order of requests received."
