Exploring Pyrography

If you are interested in the art of pyrography and how it can enhance your turnings, join us for a free informational session Feb 3, 10am – noon.  Mary Carol Meinken will be explaining the tools, sources for designs (you don’t have to be able to draw!), and techniques used, along with safety procedures.  We will also discuss the different brands of burning units and the types of pens that are most useful.

After the discussion, there will be several types of burning units available for you to try out.  John Jackobs will also be on hand to discuss making your own unit from a battery charger.

A hands on class will be scheduled for March 3rd, from 9-12.  A supplies list will be available Feb 3, so you will have sufficient time to acquire / turn items needed.

Keep in mind, that the focus of this class and the hands on class to follow in a few weeks, is enhancement of turned items. If your goal is burning portraits or landscapes, this class would be a good foundation, but we will not be delving into the intricacies of this type of burning.
